Broadcast Journalism Schools

Are you thinking of beginning a career in broadcast journalism?  There are several broadcast journalism schools to choose from, both on campus and through online programs.  Many schools offer a choice between a certificate program, or associate’s, bachelors, or master’s degrees in broadcast journalism or a related subject.  You will learn about ethics and the law in journalism, as well as professional writing, editing, production, and multi media.

Broadcast journalism programs can help secure you an entry level position in local or national broadcasting, or a behind the camera position such as producer, director, or editor.  Whether you are new to the field or looking to grow in your career, give yourself the advantage by pursuing a degree in this exciting field.  Start by requesting information from several schools.  You’ll have the opportunity to speak directly with a representative from each school to get your questions answered and help you in the decision-making process.

Broadcast Journalism Graduate Schools

Broadcast Journalism SchoolsPursuing an advanced broadcast journalism degree can help you secure some of the most sought after positions in the field.  Broadcast journalism graduate schools offer you the education and training necessary to give you the edge over the competition in management or high profile positions.  If you are currently in journalism and would like to take your career to the next level, pursuing a graduate degree in broadcast journalism could set you on the course for advancement.  While a graduate degree in journalism isn’t always necessary, it can be beneficial if you are looking to get in to national broadcasting or working with a major news program.  Likewise, careers in production, editing, or writing for a major publication can benefit from the education that these broadcast journalism graduate schools offer.

Campus Online Broadcast Journalism Schools

Whether to attend an on-campus school or an online school depends on several factors.  Is there a campus program in your area?  If so, request information to assess the courses offered and determine if they are a good fit for your goals.  Perhaps a more flexibile schedule is what you need, in which case an online program might be more beneficial.  They offer the same access to experienced professors but with the flexibility to attend class when it best fits your schedule.  Technology has made it possible to work with both your professors and your classmates in an online environment, giving you the ability to seek the necessary feedback, but at a time that works for you.  Request information from the online schools featured here to see what they have to offer.

What Are The Prerequisites For Attending Broadcast Journalism Schools?

Prerequisites can vary from school to school; however, there are some common prerequisites that are found across many of these broadcast journalism programs. For associates and bachelor’s degrees, a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is generally an acceptable prerequisite.  Plan on providing your transcripts or SAT scores, as many schools will ask for them. While having relevant experience in writing or reporting can be helpful, it is generally not a requirement for admission into journalism schools.
